Artist Statement

Capturing a single icon of truth within a brief glimpse of my subject indicates the fact that emotion is the element that impels my art. I have no intention to capture the essential characteristics of my subject, but to relieve it from its natural form. My work composes internal emotions in a symbolic reality portraying uncommon images rather than a representation of physical appearance.

Reflecting on my subject's emotional status or motivated by my own, generates an internal drive that I can’t contain within the outlines of natural form. By removing the mask of flesh from people, the shape from trees, the colors from the sky or the mass from mountains, I relieve my subject from its natural appearance only to reveal an alternate manifestation of its essence.
